What We Believe
The Living and True God is the Creator of the universe and is sovereign in all things. The Bible is the inspired word of God and free from errors. Nothing is to be added and nothing is to be taken from it at any time, under any pretense. The Scriptures are our only rule of faith and practice.
The Son of God, Jesus Christ, is the Savior of the world. We believe in His deity, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His vicarious atonement for sin, His resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His lordship over the church, and His personal return in power and great glory.
The Salvation of Man is from God, unmerited by anything within us. The Bible states that we are saved by grace, through faith, not by works; it is a gift from God.
The Sabbath Day is sacred. The first day of the week is the Christian Sabbath, the Lord's Day. Our members are encouraged to observe this day by worshiping our Lord.
The Lord's Supper is to be administered as taught in the New Testament. Holy Communion is held the first Sabbath of each quarter (January, April, July, and October). Additional observances are held Maundy Thursday, Easter and Christmas Eve.
The Sacrament of Baptism is given in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures teach that baptism is a sign of the covenant of grace through the redemption purchased by Christ and is, therefore, to be administered not only to believing adults but to children of believing parents to whom the promise of grace extends.

Our Church History
The Bartow ARP Church is a congregation of the General Synod of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Our congregation was organized under the auspices of the Second Presbytery by the Reverend C.S. Young on Sunday, January 12, 1890 with 15 charter members. Today, we are part of the Florida Presbytery of the ARP Church, and have grown to a congregation of more than three hundred active members, with our membership representing all ages and stages of life.
Our first building was begun in 1892 and was completed at a cost of $4,500. Of this amount, $1,000 was contributed by the General Synod with the remainder coming from local contributions.
The erection of the present sanctuary was begun in 1925. It was completed on June 20, 1926 and was dedicated to the glory of God. At that time, records indicate the total membership was 156.
In 1973 we completed a renovation and modernization of our entire church facility, at which time the membership stood at 293.
Then, in 1985, we completed our latest building addition which includes the Grady R. Oates Fellowship Hall, kitchen, choir room, youth group meeting rooms, a conference room and library, and an office suite.
